Jigsaw Group Work – Students Teaching Each Other
Instructions in the Programming and Strategies Handbook
Step One: Students work in 4 expert groups to find the main ideas and practical examples from 4 texts on different aspects of the same general topic [e.g. Australian Women in World War 2].
Each group works on a different text – preparing to teach the other groups.
Step Two: The “expert groups” can either teach the whole class or members can go in pairs to teach students, in home groups which are made up of a pair from each expert group
Step Three: Each student will fill in a note making grid to show what they have learned which can be marked by the teacher.
